The 76th Sri Lankan Independence Day Competition Showcases Remarkable Talent and Community Spirit.

23rd February 2024 – The Sri Lankan Majlis Qatar (SLMQ) proudly organized the 76th Sri Lankan Independence Day competition at the Stafford Sri Lankan School in Qatar. This annual event conducted by the SLMQ since 2002 was supported by the Sri Lankan Embassy.

The competition, which brought together over 500 Sri Lankan students from various schools across Qatar, featured an array of engaging contests for different age groups. Winners of these competitions were crowned and awarded the Young Writers, Young Speakers, Young Poet, Young Artist, Young Colorist and Young Mastermind awards, each designed to showcase the talents and creativity of the participants.

The event was attended by his His Excellency Mafaz Mohideen, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to state of Qatar, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Accompanying him were embassy officials, the esteemed Principal of Stafford school Mr. Nimal Fernando and generous sponsors Royce World Trading Co. W.L.L and Al Mutwassit Cleaning & Pest Control Co. W.L.L all of whom added to the aura of prestige and celebration.

The 76th Sri Lankan Independence Day competition stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of unity, creativity, and community that defines the Sri Lankan expatriate’s living in Qatar.
